Migration has begun and among the earliest species arriving to Costa Rica are Eastern and Western Wood-Pewee, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Red-eyed Vireo and warblers such as Louisiana Waterthrush, Black-and-white Warbler, American Redstart and Blackburnian Warbler.

Another early migrant is the Cerulean Warbler which spends most of its time foraging frantically in the dense foliage of the forest canopy, making them tricky to find. Ceruleans are a passage migrant and are mainly present in Costa Rica during the month of September. Las Brisas Nature Reserve is an important stopover site for them.They only spend a few days here resting and feeding to refuel for the next leg of their journey.
Otra migratoria temprana es la Reinita Cerúlea, que pasa la mayor parte de su tiempo forrajeando frenéticamente en el denso follaje del dosel del bosque, lo que dificulta su avistamiento. Las cerúleas son migratorias de paso y están presentes principalmente en Costa Rica durante el mes de septiembre. La Reserva Las Brisas es un sitio de escala muy importante para ellos, solo pasan unos días aquí descansando y alimentándose para reabastecerse de combustible para la siguiente etapa de su viaje.
